1 Introduction of the course Water Supply Engineering is one of the main specialized courses of our major and also a professional required course. The main task is to make students master theoretical knowledge, design principles and procedures, calculation methods and the associated new technologies and new equipments of water intake engineering, water treatment engineering and water distribution engineering and to lay a solid theoretical basis for students’ future works. 2 The evaluation of the course This course has always been an important course in the Department of municipal engineering. Each department leaders have to guarantee the quality of teaching strictly so that municipal engineering has won unanimous praise by teachers and students and a certain reputation both inside and outside university over the years. Two professors of environmental engineering in our school have a high evaluation on the teaching quality of our courses. Professor Xu Guo ren of municipal and environmental engineering in Harbin Institute of Technology, and Professor Cheng Xiao ru of Civil Engineering in Wuhan University both have praised the teaching content of this course has a strong pertinence. The high quality and network construction of the course will facilitate the students to a great extent in the study of combination with theory and actual. By way of heuristic teaching and case teaching, this course not only pay attention to theoretical knowledge in the field of water treatment, but also weigh greatly on the practical ability to operate.
